[Korea:Busan] Sim card (U-sim) purchase in Busan Port

Hello!

 

Today I am blogging to share the information I've gathered for a friend

who is taking a ferry from Japan to Busan after their trip.

 

 

In fact, I only knew that there was a ferry between Japan and Busan,

and I thought it was just to Tsushima Island.

 

I never even considered that there would be a ferry between Fukuoka and Busan.

 

 

My friend had already made the ferry reservation and taken care of other things.

So, the only request made to me was

 

"whether they could purchase a SIM card

when getting on and off the ferry in Busan."

Usually, when you arrive at the international airport, you can buy a SIM card,

and Korean SIM cards are also available for purchase online!

 

However, a SIM card at Busan Harbor Terminal...

I didn't even know there was an international terminal at Busan Harbor this time.

 

But since I am Korean, I should help my friend.

 

Fist of all,  I checked what facilities are available at the Busan Harbor International Terminal

and confirmed the presence of SKT and KT roaming centers.

 

However, the online phone number provided was not the direct number for those centers

but rather a general number, so I couldn't get through.

As a result, I contacted the customer service of my subscribed telecommunications provider (SKT) and asked,

 

"Just like in other countries, it seems like SIM cards are sold at airports.

Do you happen to know if they are available at Busan Harbor?"

 

Their asnwer was "YES. we are selling U-sim for short-term travelers there." 

 

Oh it is great.

 

Even though I received a response, I felt a bit worried.

The customer service representative didn't initially seem to understand

what I was explaining about the SIM card at the begining of our conversation.

So, I decided to double-check directly at the Busan Harbor Terminal.

 

"Hello, customer.

Upon checking the inquiry you made,

it has been confirmed that you can purchase a SIM card without a separate contract

at the 2nd floor Seven Eleven convenience store in Busan Harbor International Passenger Terminal.

However, please be advised to inquire with the respective business regarding issues such as usage period, financial details, and inventory status. Thank you."

If you are a foreigner arriving by ferry at Busan Harbor,

you can purchase a SIM card either at the nearby telecommunication company's roaming center or

at the 2nd-floor Seven Eleven convenience store!
